Can/Do Civs change religions if they founded it?

You don't have to raze their holy city to get them to change religions. Isabella changed religions just after I TOOK (and kept) it.

Come to think of it, she changed to MY state religion, probably in the AI hope that it would prompt me to agree to peace. Alas, she had only her capital left, and if I hadn't preservered and taken it, Tokagawa would have.
