  • I only win through space victory

    Hi everyone,

first of all, I've been playing on Noble, and winning most of the time. I usually play a 'castle' type of civ, often financial, perhaps industrious or cultural. My last game was with Louis on the Ice Age scenario.

Anyway, this last time around I really wanted the cultural victory, and didn't actually come that far away from it. So I can appreciate that it's definitely attainable. It seems the last patch made the later techs a little harder to get, which I like.

    1. can I get some useful hints on getting cultural victory?

    2. what way do others usually gain victory? Am I alone in always getting space victory?

    Thanks
    B

Go into the Apolyton University forum and load up my "hauptmans au 100-c" game. that will break you out of any space race only rut you may be in...

Afraid I won't be much help on the cultural department. I know it'll probably require liberal use of the culture slider, perhaps even 100% culture, with all the buildings that add % culture to your 3 cities you want the culture in, like colleseums and (I think, don't use the things) cathedrals.

Other than that, start the culture early in the first two cities you choose to build culture in, and in the last city use whatever the national wonder (I also never build) is that adds 100% culture in the third.

Maybe running allot of specialists and whatever civic makes specialists give you culture too.

Being an unabashed warmonger, I typically win via space race or domination. Probably about 60/40, with domination gaining ground.

        1. Try this ol' thread: Basic cultural thread
It's getting long, but has some good tips.

        2. Right now I'm aiming for a late game Conquest. Rather tricky cos I don't want Domination. I'll need to leave 36% of the space free, which is hard since the remaining AIs sprawl cities like mad.

Since you posted a discalimer "i dont know much about cultural victories" I'll let it slide, But FYI. Colloseums give no culture.
