  • Starting Distance from other CIVS

Where can I change the minimum distance between Civs initial starting positions?

I just started a huge world (modded to be twice the size as a normal huge map). The French founded their first city 3 squares away from mine on turn 1.

There was this in the globaldefines.xml
    MIN_CIV_STARTING_DISTANCE
    10

But this cant be it, can it?

Soren made a post about this on another thread, changing the start difference will more likely than not make them start closer than if you left it alone because of the way it is set up. if you lengthen the distance, you will run out of room faster thus get more civs squeezed in too tight.

If you get a civ 3 squares away, its bad luck, so reroll the map, or just take their city as the ai doesnt defend with his first couple units.

      Did try this (attacking).

He already had 2 defenders in his city - plus 2 exploring. I think the AI cheats when an undefended city is threatened.

I attacked with 7 warriors, and failed to kill one of his defenders, so I quit.....

Some levels start with extra units
