  • civilisation and war

I just saw an episode of 'civilisation and war' on discovery channel and they spoke about the impact of journalist on wars (from the crimean war onwards). This is something that could be incorporated in Civ4.x

A journalist unit could have a negative or postive impact on war weariness. If your pikeman wins against a rifleman then the journalist would spread the word of the heroic battle and and reduce war wearniess and even affect the moral of the ennemy. If your troops raze a city or destroy farms this should have a negative impact if you are a democracy....

Also the journalist could become the modern equivalent of the missionary but then instead of spreading religion, spreading your culture...

Anyone thinks this is a good idea?

Sounds more like a civic option than a unit thing. 'Less war weariness when you win'. Sounds like a risky and fun option.

I'm not sure if it's civIV but loosing battles in civIII did have an impact on your war weariness.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Such a feature could become very tedious, not to mentioning the feared Micro Management. If for example a player decides to switch from Universal Suffrage to Police State for reducing war weariness, you could say that his people should become unhappy in the first place for losing their 'rights'.
