Hi i'm new here. This site seems really big and seems like a good place to start learning this game. I've just got civ4 but i don't have a good understanding of the game mechanics yet. Is there any place specific with a good guide where i can find the basics and how to improve in Civ4? Thanks for your help in advance.

You probably already found it from Doug's link, but Vel's Strategy thread is particularly good:

Lurking the strategy forums and looking in the Apolyton University forums tends to do well.
Have you played the Tutorial in Civ4 yet? It explains the basics.
From there, make threads in the correct forum detailing some questions you have unanswered.
Perhaps we could set up a "Tutorial Game" or something, where we watch a veteran play the AI, a couple of turns at a time, and ask questions about why he did stuff.Comment
