Communism is a very easy tech to get, it only requires liberalism and scientific method. The main advantage of pyramids suffrage is you don't need to go down the enitre Nationalism path until you want Corporation.

The Pyramids are insanely powerful, I usually go for them as soon as possible, chop rush them, and forego any other early wonders to get them.

I also build cottages as soon as possible, run representations via the pyramids until I've got towns and then switch to suffrage. Like Blake said, I also go right for communism, which is extremely easy to get because like many, I'm rushing for liberalism to get the free tech anyway.
