  • They eat horses don't they?

The game has Horse pastures as a hammer resource, but people also eat them. In parts of Europe it's considered something of delicacy. So I think you should get at least 1 extra food for having one. The same goes for Ivory and Furs. After all it's not like the early fur-trappers skinned the beaver then threw the carcasses away, it was a source of food for them as well.

sure, why not. I think in civ2 they gave 1 extra food. We still use horse meat for dog food.

My parents, I was born Dutch, used to love smoked horse meat, but they didn't get it very often because it was fairly expensive.

horse manure is an excellent 'material' to make compost from, which naturally increases food production.

            So a +1 for food

The dutch "Kroket" mainly consists of horse-meat.
              It's pretty good tasting!

Horse meat is actually quite good, and good for you. It has much less fat than beef does.

i prefer ostrich meat, although they are far harder to ride. i propose that for certain civs, the horse resource could give a hammer bonus and for others it gives a food bonus?
                  regards,

Or there could be a 'fat horse' resource as well.

Edit, having read Willem's following post:

Make that 'deformed or unsuitable' horses. Often found near fallout.

Horses are kind ok okay as they are, but I think Furs could do with being like +1 food +3 commerce, since they are always on such crappy tiles anyway.

I think the mongolian nomads lived off their horses. Drank the milk, and cooked the meat on fires made of dung. So Ghengis and Khublai should at least get some food out of the horses.
