  • Overcrowding

    Hi all,
How do YOU deal with overcrowding? I really don't want to build more troops, and there isn't any more room for more settlers/cities. I have already turned off growth for quite a few cities, but they are pretty overcrowded now.

On a related note, what happens to troops when I disband their units? Do they go back into the population of the nearest city, into the population of the city in which the unit was formed, or do they just fade away?

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to one and all!

I don't quite follow - since troops don't apparently come out of a city's population to begin with why would they go back into the population?

Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

Create some specialist and starve your city down until food produce is the same as food eaten. Make sure you have all of the happiness improvements built also.

Overcrowding isn't as much of a problem as one would think it would be, actually. It just stifles further production - think about it, if all citizens in a city of size 8 are happy, but there is 1 unhappy citizen in the city when it is size 9, it has the same production capabilities as it had done previously. (Except maybe for forced food to production for settlers/workers) As well, bad health just stifles growth directly by decreasing food output. Quite a difference if you put in other factors, such as war weariness, but in normal peaceful circumstances, it just acts as a growth stifler.
