Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Before that tech (calendar), you'll see just a piece of the land around you, but without any knowledge of your position in the world. See the mini-map. After Calendar, you’re supposed to know how the earth and other objects move around the celestial sphere… and, as a consequence (?), where you are. So, you can zoom out the entire world. You get the same building the Stonehenge Wonder.
Btw, Stonehenge makes much more sense centering the map (it's a calendar, after all... ) than Pyramids giving you any government civics... Why? What the...?
Another thing you will know after centering the world map will be,
how large the size of your explored territories is compared to the whole world map.
Before centering the size of your explored territory will fill almost the entire minimap. Only after centering you´ll see how small your explored territory really is
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve." Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"
Also when you know your position you can then work out the type of terrain that you will probably encounter north and south of your location. If your near the top of the map for example, you best spend your effect exploring the southern area as where there wont be ice packs, tundra etc. This also stands true for desert and rainforest near the centre of the map.
Do you play on duel maps? I can never explore a large map by the time a build stonehenge (if I get it).
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

If I don't already know what Latitude I am on by the time I have Stonehenge and especially Calendar then I am in serious trouble.
If you are on a small continent or island it helps greatly. Plus I am usually able to build this wonder pretty quickly if I have stone and the Indians as a Civ.
before you get one of the two, you can't wander around the 'map' to see where you are in relation to everything else. you can't go 360 around the globe by screening to the left/right.
