Game hangs on the Load screen

That is - after clicking on Play. The game loads some stuff, presents me with a DONE notice and then except for the singing does nothing. Mouse also appears to not be working except that it moves.

Intel P4, 2.4 gHz. 1 gig RAM, Mobile Radeon 9000

it looks like all the mobility radeon cards have the same problem

My son and I busted our buts but no joy. Seems as if ATI hates that game or something.
