  • "Ghosts" with patch 1.52 character rendering

I haven't seen anybody else reporting this.

Patch 1.52 seems to have a problem with character (i.e. letters, numbers, etc.) rendering that characters appear with "ghosts," the kind of double images you get on a TV set when you some kind of signal reflection.

Note the faint white lines beneath the characters. They weren't there before this patch.

Yet another example of Patch 1.52 making things worse.

aparrently the patch reduced my macines capacity. because it says that i am below the reccommended specs now i am also noticing slowdown and many graphical gliches like half of my mines dissapearing. (half of each mine) and i cant join any MP games.

The patch seems kinda rushed (again). I wish they wouldn't try to meet some sort of holiday deadlines. Release patches and programs when they are done, and ignore the deadlines from the suits.

Used to get a similar problem when playing Guild Wars with the AA on... Doesn't seem to make a difference in Civ4 though, unless it's graphic card/driver specific.

me too, with 1.52 civ4 no longer works on my laptop
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Ouch. Patch 1.52 seems to be causing a lot more problems than the previous patch.

It's fixed loads, you old troll, and you know it. UR is cursed, it seems, or his PC is, but it runs much smoother for me.

1.52 has finally made me able to play the game properly on my laptop, so I wouldn't say it's a disaster... However, some flaws are yet to be fixed.

After I got the new patch, the game has become so much better, and I can at last play maps as big as standard size on my laptop. But now I get another problem: I have a Pentium M 1.7 GHz processor. But after some play, the game, which has so far run smooth, suddenly get real slow, so slow I've found the only way to get around this is to reboot the computer. Curious why the computer ran so slow, I quit the game the other day and checked my system before I rebooted. This is what I saw, before I ran the game and after the slowdown:

As you can see, the game somhow slows down my processor's speed considerably, even though the settings for the computer are "desktop"(the name in the screenshot is in Norwegian), and should have been like the first screenshot all the time! A reboot solves the problem.

Another thing. Twice yesterday in my current game, the graphic card driver suddenly crashes during play, forcing me to reboot the hard way(through pressing the power button for some seconds), because both the game and Windows naturally don't like the situation...

But at least I can play the game, that was much harder to achieve pre-patch.

What the hell? You managed to underclock your system by at least 80%! You must be Negative 1337!

A laptop with Pentium M (Centrino) can do that without problems. But it shouldn't do so itself during the playing of a game!

Yeah, that's the processor overheating. It's turned on underclocking to try and save itself. It's either really getting too hot, or the temperature sensor isn't accurate. Either way, it's a hardware problem rather than a software problem.

It's likely a software problem, since most of that is being controlled through SW now..
