  • Modding thoughts: Hammer equivalent of Financial

I thought about playing around with the traits a little and thought about a bonus to production for a trait much like how Financial gives a bonus to commerce.

However, since hammers are worth more than gold as a general rule, what would be a proper cutoff for the hammer bonus? I'm guessing one bonus hammer for any that has three, that way you usually have to build improvements to take advantage of it. Two would be too powerful, as there are lots of unimproved terrain that already has two hammers.

I'm thinking this will stack very nicely with Industrious.
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

Give this "new" bonus to industrious and remove the wonder building bonus.

      That should work

ALthough i think such a bonus as it stands now in your idea is to powerful. Every windmill would produce +1 hammer. Now THATS powerful.

Make it so that mines, lubermill, watermill, & workshop give +1 under industrious.

way, way, way too powerful. the OP proposal would give an extra hammer to every mine, mattpilot's proposal would be even worse. 1 hammer is 2-3 times more valuable than 1 commerce, and financial is already the most powerful trait IMO.

Maybe something like a 10% production bonus in each city might be doable.

          What, are you crazy?!
          25% Bonus to production.

Well, it doesn't seem like having a tile bonus can be very balanced after all.

A flat production "always on" rate is a little much, too, I think. I'd basically spread it out over 10% more for a Forge and another 10% for a Factory.

            Oh well.

You might want to circulate this topic around on the Mods forum too, since many of those guys would have experience with keeping the game balanced.

Hmmm, an extra 10% on a Forge instead of cheaper forges would be a nerf in most cases - 35% extra production in specialised cities versus 25% extra production everywhere.
Though it sounds like a good deal - if we get a 50% bonus with forges as opposed to 25%, with Factories getting an additional 25% Bonus (I forget what a Factory's bonus is, d'oh), then this trait would be fairly useful.
