  • I like now friendly the AI can be

I was playing a game where the enemy managed to capture one of my weakly defended cities on the first turn of the war, and then the same turn Catherine, my ally, took the city. At first I was mad, but when I later went to the diplomacy screen with Catherine, I saw that my former city was the only one that was not redded out. I asked her if she would give it back, and she did so, not asking for anything in return! Thanks, Cathy!

    well, that just ain't right...

    not fair...

everything is always redded out with all my contacts.

And, no, I'm not giving "tribute" or converting to please them. My cavalry will please them just fine, thanks.
If pigs could fly we'd all have to wear helmets.

Still, that's pretty sweet of her. It's really hard to say no to her when she pouts, and then when she gets what she wants, her eyes light up. I play with UN disabled, so I probably don't warrant that kind of special treatment.

there is no reason to diable UN victory now as it's actually hard to pull off. The only easy way to win UN victory is to posses 65% of the world population, thus any vote for yourself automaticly wins...

Yeah I find 'nice' turns in the AI a good change from the old AI which only sought to further its own personal goals and you had to specifically ask for anything you want and promise in return your 'goodwill and friendship' and then they'd almost always refuse (even long-term allies).
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

But the AI's chance of survival is greatly increased by being on the player's good side.
