  • Great Engineers

I don't know if this has been pointed out before, but I noticed that the production value of a great engineer when used to finish a building is 500 hammers + 20 hammers per population point.

Once you get through the early part of the tech tree where a great engineer finishes just about everything, then sometimes it only covers part of a building. That is determined by population.

So a size 5 city would get 600 hammers.
A size 10 city would get 700 hammers.
A size 15 city would get 800 hammers.
A size 20 city would get 900 hammers.

So they are most effective in the biggest cities? Interesting, thanks for pointing that out.
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

I had noticed some variation in the number of hammers, but wasn't sure of the cause. Thanks Ozzy.

Do free specialists count as pop. for this effect?

Doubtful. But I didn't test it.

Definitely a good point, I have often wondered why in some cases a Great Engineer can nearly finish a wonder and in other cases only completes it 50%. Good work!

I think this also gets modified by the game timing (standard, epic, etc).

My last great engineer was giving me 1500 hammers. I was playing on marathon.
