I have a following problem: when I start the game, it shows the Civ4 splash screen for half a second and loads for few seconds after that. Then it gives a message saying program has executed an illegal operation...
I noticed that none of those shortcuts in my Civ4 folder leads anywhere. For an example, _Civ4Config.ink points to "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\My Documents\My Games\Civ4\CivilizationIV.ini"
but I have no such folder! As my OS (WinXP) is finnish, I have "Omat tiedostot" instead of "My Documents". On my other comp it seems to work fine, so I copied the files on that "My documents" to this computer, but it didn't help. I also fixed the shortcuts myself, but that did no good either.
I have tried to reinstall the game several times, I have also patched the game with 1.09. I have tried two NVIDIA drivers and two separate Graphic adapters (GF4200 and GF6600).
Technical stuff:
AMD Barton 3000 xp
2 x 512 MB 266Mhz DDR
ABIT NF7 nForce2
Club 3D GF6600 GT 128 MB DDR3
WinXP SP2
