  • Lost XP?!

I had a couple of gunships I had upgraded from cavalry. One had 17/36, and one had 12/whatever. I saved my game, and when I reloaded, Both choppers were at 10 XP!! I had a chopper at 10/36. It was a real bummer to lose all those XP.

Has this happened to any of you people??
    I don't know what I've been told!

It's in the manual I believe (not sure!?) It's written somewhere anyway. When you upgrade units, they're capped at 10 XP.

Aww, bummer! I must have missed that part. The only thing I saw was that animals only get you to 5, and barbarians(!) only get you to 10. shucks.

I don't believe this is actually the case. I've had units with more than 10XP.

It seems to be one or two units get knocked down to 10 at random loads. They are usually gunships with high XP.

I'm going to keep an eye on my upgraded units. Sounds strange...

              Whhaaaa?

Is this true? Doesn't jibe with my gameplay experience but maybe I've just never noticed. We should get confirmation of this.
One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.

Ok, it just dawned on me that by upgrade you don't mean promote... doh!

No, it's not the reload. Pay attention next time you upgrade a unit with > 10 xp. It's immediately knocked back to 10.

You -do- keep the promotions, right?

The promotions and the level stays the same but the xp you have drops to 10. What this means is it's very hard to upgrade experienced units and continue on with their promotions. 10/36 xp can be very daunting. Makes you think twice about promoting that 30/36 unit. Can he earn 6 more xp even though he's obsolete?

Yes, I kept my promotions. When it gets close, bomb them before attacking with cavalry I guess.

The annoying this is that the Mobility promotion is useless once you upgrade to Gunships.

Stack him with non-obsolete units and use the stack to attack

I always upgrade my 9,10 and 11XP units first, then rush them to the front. If someone is 15 - 16 I'll try to get the extra point to promote before upgrading, but these guys are usually so far down the list it doesn't matter.
