  • Moral dilema

Fist sorry for the spat in an erlier post about getting the game to run. I eventually got it going with some tweeking.

    The delema is......

I'm nearing the end of a huge/epic game on one of the higher levels (can't remember which)

Here I am sitting with a sh*t load of nukes and the Germans are about to win a space race victory. Don't know how coz they are miles behind me in points and only have a few cities and just a few turns ago they didn't have rocketry.

    Anyway.....

The obvious thing to do is nuke them to slow them down a bit coz I'm almost on the way to Alpha Centauri myself. So why do I feel so guilty about doing it

Ok so they have been very friendly through the game and the look of pleasure on Fredricks face everytime I talk to him makes me smile. We've swapped technologies and he's actually pulled me up from the middle of the pack to front runner

They're only puter peeps. It won't be like I'll be comiting genocide

Jesus I gotta get a grip

      haha.

The way I always see things is that nobody is EVER a friend
If they are a friend, its cos you are doing something they like at the moment, but it rarely stays this way and they will usually attack if you show any sign of weakness (I play with aggressive AI so usually happens).

So...... Always do the same to them - kill kill kill when any opportunity arises!

Okay, I got my Backstabbin' knife, my Mask of Deceit, some Mail which is Black for some reason, and the willingness to not only use people to achieve my own ends, but to stop using them and to nuke the crap out of them should it benefit me.
I may have no friends, but I'm winning.
        Life is gooooooooood.

I had betrayed and conquered a good ally of mine simply because I felt that I didn't want another nation's presence on my continent.

Rofl, one multiplayer game I was domianting, and while building the UN I stockpiled a vast quantity of nukes. After being elected Secretary, I declared war on EVERY other civ (held alt and went down the list), and launched ALL my nukes, all 38 of them, pratically every major city on the map got nuked, including the human players. Several cities got nuked twice! (strangely this didn't exactly endear the rest of the world to me)

Remember, there's no need for morals when you're busy cackling gleefully and hitting the big red button!

good to know it was you

b2t: did you try to sabotage his production. i think moral dilemma is part of the game. that makes it more emotional. don´t nuke´em. they´re real friends!

How sad yall are traitorous! Now, I could see if you were gonna eat em, or use em for slave labor or human sacrafices(or both) or simply rid them of an imcompetant git. But think of the children you incinerated, and smile

Think of the infants, widows, orphans, and all manner of life you cut short.

Remember, its more fun when there's a human shield.

That's why it is all the better when you slaughter them.

That gives me a great idea!
We'll tie Infants and Orphans to the sides of all our buildings and Battleships!
That way, the bleeding heart weenies won't attack us as we infect our Widows with every disease known to man, and use them as biological weapons.

Convert to Judaism. Then ponder German history.

                          CBR,
SAVE the GAME. Do alternate timelines: See if you can win without killing your "friends", if that doesn't work then go the nuke route.

I also would have the moral dilemma. I am role-playing more than "playing the game to win."

Yes. On the higher difficulty levels the computers just seem to get a sudden boost and end up with all the modern techs.

Really annoying. Makes most of the late-game units worthless. Surprised you even had time to build nukes.
