  • Extra trade routes - how does it work?

Certain civics, techs and so on give extra trade routes.

What does this mean in practice? Does every city have a limited number of "slots" for resources? How many are there per default?

Also - how much income is there from each trade route?

In an information society you take a shower before leaving for work.

Well, the default # of starting trade routes is either 0 or 1.

Income depends first upon realtive size of cities, big bonsus for foreign trade route, and then certain buildings increase the income.

This seems to all be in gold and also do get multipled by the gold enhancing buildings.

Is there somewhere that you can see your aggregate income from trade routes and foreign trade routes?

I have seen the net foreign income in the $ advisor screen, but I doubt that it includes foreign trade routes because I only had 22 for that figure (guessing it is per turn payments for resources or something).

Well, resources don't factor into the trade routes. Diplomatic trade, like resources and GPT are a completely different beast than the city to city trade routes that are changed by civics and technologies.

Each of your cities gets 1 trade route, plus whatever number of trade routes your technolgies, civics, and wonders might be providing you.

The income for each route depends on (I believe) the size and commerce income of the city it exists in, and the size and commerce income of the city it is trading to. I think that this is also impacted by distance, but I am not certain about that. You can see how much income you're getting from each trade route in the city screen, but I know of no screen that summarizes total trade commerce, with total foreign trade commerce as a subset of that.

Info screen F9 has the trade route totals on it (along with alot of other sometimes useful info). I'm fairly sure its accurate, although I haven't gone through to see if the totals for foreign averages and the total foreign routes with my cities are accurate.

Okay, I will look at that. I had been looking at the financial advisor for that information.
