  • National Wonders

It annoys me that I can't easily see a list of all National Wonders in the Civilopedia (maybe I'll mod that). Of course, it doesn't matter anyway, as I'm at work and can't look at it.

So I'm trying to plan where they are all going to go in my blossoming French empire, and I don't know what they all are.

Anyone have a link to a list of the National Wonders and their effects? I'd be most appreciative.

Civ Fantaics has an article which lists all the wonders and their effects. Not sure if there is one here or not.

In the civilopedia the building page is ordered. First all normal buildings, than all national wonders, than all world wonders.

It's not the easiest way, but it works.

Thanks, that civfanatics article works perfectly.

Diadem, I think the first of a series of Civilopedia mods I'm planning on doing will be to allow you to display only National Wonders and only World wounders as a separate list. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll have time to work on any modding until January, so someone will likely beat me to it.

Yeah, it has always annoyed me that there are no seperate lists for this.

It's not my greatest annoyance though. For example when viewing civics, all you can do is see a big alphabetical list. I want to instantly be able to compare civics of the same catagory, just like ingame. Why can you do it ingame, but not in the civilopedia?

Same for science. Why is there no roadmap?

Why are so many links unclickable. When it says that animal husbandry reveals horses, I want the word 'horses' to be clickable so I can read what they do. When you aks a list of all units of a certain type (gunpowder ones for example) you can't click any of the names. Stupid.

I could go on for a while like this.

The civilopedia has always been one of the really cool parts of civilization. It's a shame that, in civ4, they put so little thought in it.

CIV is a great game and I see myself playing it for a long time. Hopefully long enough to see a drastic reworking of both the Civilopedia and the advisors screens, both of which by and large are horrendous. I am surprised they screwed these up so badly given the quality in the rest of the areas.

....and the list of buildings is not alphabetized correctly!

I can't believe that by version 4 of a game that no one at Firaxis knows how the English language works...

They alphabetize using the word "the"... For example, they list Stonehenge followed by The Church of the Nativity.

              DOH!

The Church of the Nativity belongs right after Chichen Itza.

For alphabetization purposes, articles like "a", "the", etc. should be ignored.

That is, if you know English...someone corrected this in previous versions of the game, but then they backslid.

The Civilopedia is very poorly organized in this version. I'm rather surprised, since it seems like it would be much easier than the rest of the game to program. The interface to it really sucks....

...as opposed to the rest of the game which is so superb. Ironic.

Civlopedia is a royal pain. What's the point in referencing things by picture? Surely after the invention of writing it should flip from hieroglyps to words?

I agree. The Civilopedia should not be referenced by picture, but by written words. Much easier to find things. And it is somewhat disorganized. Hopefully it will eventually be changed.

Actually if you click on a picture you can then see a list of all things if the corresponding catagory at the right of your screen. By alphabet.

Often when I'm looking for a unit. I click a random unit in the list with pictures, and then from the alphabetical list I get there, look up the unit I'm looking for.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks pictures are stupid.
