  • City view...actual city

Hello. I have been examining the Civilization 4 demonstration and I can't figure out how to look at the city, as in see the things you have built and the terrain. I know it's kind of silly, but it's quite nice if you are a perfectionist player, or just like to imagine what your cities actualy look like, instead of just looking at the "control panel."

It is there...isn't it? (I did search for this and failed to find the answer.)

The only way to see everything that is built in your cities is by zooming in all the way with your mouse wheel or the page up and down keys.

They don't have a "city view" graphic like they did in the older versions of the game.
I play Europa Universalis II; I dabble in everything else.

Well, since they haven't done a descent city view since Civ 1, that's not too much of a loss
This space is empty... or is it?

Considering how close you can zoom in now, and that it shows EVERY building in the city on the map, I dont think its all that neccessary.
By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.

But you can't see your soldiers march through the city after conquering it

              I much prefer this:

to any old fashioned city view.

That's every building I built in Washington, up close and personal. Up the river you can see Atlanta. Much cooler than the old way of city views, and you don't have to break from the game so it's more immersive.

And it's not even zoomed all the way in.

I'm not a big fan of the aqueduct graphic. I built one on a 1 square island city. And the aquaduct went over the ocean.

It does look nice, but nothing beats watching new buildings go in like they did in Civilization. Thanks for the information, I'll zoom in.

I always forget to zoom in (and out). I play nearly the entire game with the same camera view. I never zoomed in with civ2 either. I didn't even know you could for the longest time.
