  • And you know what, Maidal?

Those games where I am missing some vital resource and knuckle under and stick to it and somehow manage to eek out a win, those are the SWEETEST victories of all!

    Agree?

    • First of all, conquest isn't even possible on the settings we played on. Is that the true style of civ? Sounds like sim city to me. If conquest wasn't supposed to be such a big part then why did they base the economy around military and why did they put so much effort into improving combat? Face it, your arguments suck. If you are going to play 1v1 and are going for a 100% win ratio you have to play on mirror. End of story.

Which sounds really sweet and I'll give you a pat on the back as you win your SP games and casual MP games. For serious MP play or for a 1v1 like I like to play where everything is on the line then playing with luck sucks.

        • My, my, are we sounding like a broken record, or what?

Open you mind grasshopper, and learn.

          • Maybe I will when you prove me wrong. However, you've already admitted that these maps have luck on them so you've already lost the argument. Posting lame replies like that only adds insult to injury.

            • And I should waste my time proving wrong what is so obviously the result of a narrowminded view that is wrong on the face of it because...?

Listen, obviously you have no interest in expanding your horizons, so just believe what you want. That's fine.

But remember what has been said here, one day you may find the wisdom that has been offered to be of value to you.

Anybody? I would just like to compare Aeson's analysis of SLD's game with the map he played on.

                • Sorry, I haven't had a chance to look at it myself, and now I am at work. Wouldn't you open it in world builder? I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

                    Yup

the time I survived the insane barbarian bashing without having iron, copper or horses is the best game I played.

                    • All you do is click on multiplayer games, then go into LAN games which is easiest and click on load game. Then choose that save up there and choose my civ which is chinese. type in asdfasdf for the password. Aeson is right about the sea squares, and I saw that myself, but I didn't feel at the time it would be enough to change the sway of the game and it wasn't. Type in EatMe for Krill's save and compare the two maps and you'll see why he was able to get the wonders so fast.

Oh, and John, that's just a cop out. The simple fact is you can't prove my argument wrong because it's the same argument everyone on ladder uses. It's why Mirror map is used in 90% of 1v1 games for ladder. Ask Krill why he demanded hub map, he won't deny what has been said he'll just say "lets just agree that **** can happen" or something to that effect. I know because I spent 30min trying to get him to say, "I want to play on a huge ass map with uneven resources to make it impossible for you to attack me and so that I can slow you down."

                      • StarLightDeath claims to be one of the best players, yet he had a pig resource within the Fat Cross of his capital, not hooked up to a road, while he badly needed health.

I think that's enough said about this game.

If I compare starting locations of SLD and Krill I'd say they are about equal. Both have all the strategic resources (horses, copper, iron) available within the timeframe of the game. Krill has a few more health resources, but he has a large desert in the middle of his continent, which offsets that.

Anyway. Is noone gonna give SLD a good thrasing on a mirror map? Would be nice to see that.

                        • Are you kidding me? Do you not understand the power of hills+Flood plains? My ****ing god, how dumb can you be? Even resources like having 2 gems in your capital (amazing how you missed that one) aside, hills+irrigatable grassland and floodplains is killer. The reason they won't play me on mirror is because just like Krill, they know they can't win unless there's some sort of land discrepency. If all land is equal they stand no chance. Not only that but they need to take military completely out of the game like Krill did on this map. They accuse me of being 1 dimensional but they have removed half the game and even scoring aspects.

                          • And of course we all know that any time luck is involved it will work agains SLD and for his opponent.

SLD paranoid? Nonsense, the game really IS out to get him!!!

Surely he could have ended up with the bad starting position and you would have beaten him then....

a bad work man always blames his tools

everyone else just shuts up and gets on with it.

                              • I'm sorry, did you prove my argument wrong? What's that? No? Did you prove that my map was just as good as his? Ok. Why don't you shut up then until you actually can make a case? That might work better for you.
