All the current animals are pretty much the same anyway. A little difference in strength and they look different of course. But in effect they are just units to add some other considerations to the early game. Having different animals would just be having the same animals with different pictures.
Although, maybe sea monsters to sink ships until, say, Education...... might work???

If you play the Japanese, you have to fight off godzilla barb units and all the assorted monsters fought over the years. These barb attacks only happen in the modern era.Haven't been here for ages....Comment

If so then it should belong to a different group than Godzilla. The tricky thing would be programming the game so that if the Japanese player could see the Godzilla vs. King Kong fight then Godzilla wins, but King Kong automatically wins if the American player can see the fight. Trickier still would be the case where both see them fight. You'd have to have Godzilla appear to win for the Japanese and King Kong appear to win for the Americans, and this would involve some clever coding and modified "stealth" abilities.

ummm.....I'm not serious.
I think it's a stretch that animal units are running around -with flags! I'm actually okay with it as it makes for some interesting choices in the opening stages of the game. I do think the civ3 method of barbs all the time is probably more realistic. Like I said, I can live with cIV's approach.Haven't been here for ages....Comment
