  • Letter to Firaxis and Take 2

Well, I took the time to write a nice polite letter to Firaxis and Take 2...lets see if I get a responce! Here is the letter if you are interested:

    Mr Shirkand Take 2...

I have written you numerous times about the troubles I have been having with
Civilization 4 constantly crashing to the desktop and often causing my
computer to reboot. I believe that I waited patently for the patch that was
promised, but now that the 1.09 patch has been released, I am still not able
to play the game. If I start a game on any map larger then small, I get
about 15-20 turns into the game before I have a crash...if I try to play a
larger map, usually all I am able to get is around 10-15 turns. I have
reinstalled Windows, downloaded new drivers, sent you my dxinfo file,
reinstalled the game several times, cleaned out my cache and nothing seems
to work. I play other graphic intensive games and have no trouble at all
playing them on my system, the only trouble I have is with Civ 4.

I hope that you understand that us, the long time fans of the Civilization
Franchise are not trying to give you guys a hard time, but it is just that
over the years we have enjoyed the games and I for one can see that once
this game is working properly that it will be the best of the bunch! I have
enjoyed Sid Meier's games since the Microprose days and I want to enjoy this
game as well. Toward that end, I would like to urge you to do whatever is
possible to get the game playing properly, as soon as possible. It would
also help us fans if there was some sort of public acknowledgement of the
problems that the game is having and the steps being taken to solve
them...right now if you read the Civ message boards, all you see are angry
people who just want to know that SOMETHING is being done to fix this game!

I really would appreciate hearing from you with some good news!

    Thank you,

    Ed D

Well, not exactly the answer i was hoping for but not really anything that I wasn't expecting:

All your information has been sent to the development team. In this regard,
I am in the same boat as yourself, as we await word on fixes, patches, etc.
Hopefully we will hear something shortly on your particular issue.

      Thanks for your patience.
