  • Why does the ai care what your religion is?

Unless that ai was the one that founded the religion, why would the ai want you to swich over to it? They don't get any benefit from you switching to a religion that they didn't found. So why does the ai care about what your religion is?

i sense you too see the futility of it all...

For the same reason people care what other peoples religion is in real life.

For the same reason I get all these whacko Mormons/Born-agains/scientologists/x-sectians walking up to me in the park and asking me to convert, despite the fact that they didn't found those respective religions. In fact, since they don't seem to get the message, I suspect they may be AIs as well.

It's the same for getting bonuses for sharing a civ's favourite civic. In reality a nation doesn't care about your principles but about how you conduct your business.

Witness how China is no longer lambasted for being 'Communist'. The USA likes China's free markets (more trade routes and commerce for the USA) and this compensates for China's 'police state' civic.

Well, they do seem dumber than Civ4 AI, so there might be some merit to that theory.

At least AIs are easy to convert to you religion if you want to spend some resources on it.

With real life zealots that's not gonna happen easily...

You, my friend, haven't met Isabella and Saladin yet. These two are adamant fanatics.

I don't think I've ever even had the option ask someone to convert...

You cannot be a christian and hate others at the same time. The major christian teaching is: Love the other as you love yourself.

Well, then all the crusades, conquest of the New World and the Thirty Years War were done by false Christians - that does not change the fact that they seem to be the majority among people who call themselves "Christians".

We christians are not really good at being christians

                            Well said Cybershy, well said.

And I found it curious that an earlier poster found it easier to refer to Christians as haters of Muslims, and not the other way around. I guess 9-11 and countless other acts of terrorism count for nothing?

You need to have your religion in at least one of their cities first. IIRC.
