  • How do I abandon a city?

In Civ3 we had the 'abandon city' option. I used it regularly to drop ill located cities during the game.

Now I only see the 'burn baby burn' feature but no option to take a city and abandon it on a later stage.

    How do I do this?

You can't. New feature in cIV.

really annoying when 1-2 useless cities culture-flip to you and forces you to lower science rate. where is the "i don't care, rebuff the rebels" option??

Why not just sell everything and set the city to full hapiness, producing culture? Useless maybe, but not damaging to your nation.

There shouldn't have been a need for one in the first place, but there's a mod for this now in the Creation and Files forum.

the point is that is raises the marginal cost of the next city as well as the average city price. at prince level city #15 can easily cost you 20-25 gold civ-wide. if not more. no way you can make up for that...

i see your point...it depends on the selected civic choices

well then, it's a random event you can't avoid in cIV - like resources, AI behavior, et al

i don't like the lack of the abanddon city option either, but you can always give teh city back to the original civ via diplomacy
If you're not a rebel at 20 you have no heart. If you're still a rebel at 30 you have no brain.

Why not give it to a Civ you don't like? Or are preparing to go to war with?

giving back the city... didn't think of that. of course it will switch back to me every now and then but it could make up some goodwill

                    good idea, gilfan
