  • Does 1.09 need a patch ? When ?

I have started a Poll but it's clear I failed in this task

In your opinion which is the time frame you expect the second patch ? ....and above all which are 2-3 main issues the next patch must fix ?

    Thanks

    1. Fix popups in advisor and civilopedia screens. Sometimes when I open the screen, they just won't appear at all.

    2. Fix mouse click delays in UI. Not unbearable, but still noticeable and irritating.

I have been annoyed with the fly over in city view. I can mouse over some units and get stats and other will not display them.

It has been this way since day 1. I even bought a new video card, just in case.

vmxa1, great avatar. Might & Magic VI was my all-time favorite RPG. I went all the way through three times. Nothing like aerial fireball battles with dragons!

Oh sure, Civ4 still needs tons of patching. It is still way too slow and laggy, even on a system like mine that exceeds all the recommended (not just minimum) specs, and with graphics turned way down.

As many have pointed out, it also has memory leaks and gets steadily laggier and balkier over time. I make a point to restart every 90 minutes or so.

I'm playing on a standard map at the moment, with only five civs, and in the late game I've had several CTDs and other annoyances, like opening a city screen and then when you try to close it, you get no response for 90 seconds.

On virtually all other games, I would not bother to fight through crap like that. But this is Civilization.

I want an option that remembers your settings from the last game you played. Done. Everything else works fine because my computer was made in the 21st Century.

I notice one graphics issue that is annoying. When I select a large stack (shift+left mouse click, select all units), usually about 10 units or so, and prepare to move them, they start sliding away in a South West direction. They snap back instantly with my keystroke, but it's a bit annoying.

Sometimes after playing for many hours, I'll have a number of squares turn black, which may be due to this "memory leak". It works fine if I exit the program and restart.

Sometimes the tech chart seems to give erroneous info on number of turns vs. what the overhead bar indicates. Probably exit and restart/reload will fix it, don't know yet.

I still hear the pillaging sounds, which I thought was disabled in V1.09. That gets a bit annoying, particularly when several areas have been pillaged.

I did install V1.09 over V1.08, so I don't think this is the casue of these things.

The program remembers some of the last settings, but not player name and game options like victory conditions, difficulty, etc.

I'm very happy with the game, but expect there will be another patch at some point.

              1. Allow your "drawings" (lines and signs) done in the strategic map to be saved so they are still there next time you load up the game.

              2. Allow the grid on/off toggle selection to be saved so that you don't have to turn the grid back on every time you reload the game (turning the grid back on on my system takes a couple of minutes each time I have to do it. )

This seems to be somehow related to memory issues.
When I see this, I just close the game and launch it again. This solves the problem every time.

It seems the cultural effect determining your borders is messed up.

I have several tiles that are mine, but I have less culture in them than my rival, while the culture next to my city tile isn't going up at a rate proportional to my adjacent city.

Check this stuff yourself using the debug tool and SHIFT to display tile info.

You are being rather kind Oerdin.

I would have to say that MP still needs a LOT of work.

There are many stability issues, not to mention not having wonder movies in a MP game.

Ok guys, I suggest to open a TOP called " 1.09 BUGS REPORT " otherwise our battle is already lost and it relies on random events only

                              * Make the graphic layer available on the zoomed-in map
                              * In MP games it should be easy to just voice chat to one person without having to go into a diplo session. (something like "Hold control-alt-#" to contact player # (=1-9))
