Yes, but nations engaged in whale hunting are essentialy breaking an international law. Or using semantics like scientific research to get around it, like Japan is doing. The only reason it's still occuring is there's no practical way to enforce the regulation. In essence there is no whaling industry today, outside of a few renegade nations.

Besides, one reason whales were hunted so much before was that their rendered blubber made good lamp oil. So in that sense, whales are now obsolete and only useful for food.

I'd appreciate the reference, as my area of responsibility here is still limited to CIII PBEM ATM.

My understanding of the claim is that the AI players do not make decisions based upon knowledge of unrevealed resources. The blue circles are not part of the 'player AI', and would be exempt from that limitation. In the half-dozen games I've played out reasonably far, the circled locations have turned out to be the best choice (for general purpose cities) each time, even when initial circumstances looked otherwise. I'm not sure that passes P-value standards, though.

No, Soren specificially said that the blue circles do not take hidden info into account. So if they do, it's a bug.

I have seen the blue circles change once I have discovered more territory.

I think you should be allowed to build a city two squares from another but only in the long-diagonal directions. After all, 2.8 rounds up to three, tile overlap is 7, (only one more than a city placed 3 tiles straight) and there are often annoying gaps in my city placement.

(yes i have been caught out by this a number of times)
              regards,

              Peter

Did he specify if 'hidden' meant Fog of War, or tech-hidden resources, or both?

                  UR

What always gets me on a new game is the front to back, back to front unit turn cycling.

                  Start a new game.

                  Move the scout/warrior
If I don't settle where I start (50-50) move the settler to a plains hill for instance.

                  Next turn:
I think I'm moving the scout/warrior again, but I accidentally moved the freeking settler......AHHHHH!
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

From the context, both, although he was specifically talking about tech-hidden.
