    Tech Discovey Popups and 1.09?

    Hello,
    I installed the 1.09 patch, and te games certainly seems more stable than before. I stopped playing due to BSOD, buy with the new patch, even though it still CTD pretty regularly, it has not blue screened. I do notice that new tech discovery pop up no longer works for me..anyone else see this? Perhaps it is becuae I have wonder movies turned off? Not a big deal, as the game is playable without the pop up.

    What pop-up are you talking about? Turning off movies would affect any little movies it might otherwise show.

      Maybe I have a similar problem. After discovering a tech, you should get a pop-up explaining it with Spock's voice-over. I've had many techs not "pop-up" until Spock finished talking, although some appear right away. This has only been a problem since 1.09
      .......shhhhhh......I'm lurking.......proud to have been stuck at settler for six years.......

        This had happened to me in cases of extreme lag.

          Confirmed here; I no longer get pop-ups telling me what techs I've researched. I do have movies off.

            I think i read somewere that if you turn off movies, that Nimroy quotes get disabled too.

              That is true..disabling the movies disables the tech popups. This is different than it was in 1.00, it changed with the patch, intentionally or not I am not sure.

                Anybody know a way to work around this? Because I like 1.09 overall, and I like the tech pop-ups, but the movies slow my game down, once gave me a CTD, and anyway skip so much they're not worth watching.

                Speaking of tech, anybody else notice the patch increasing the frequency of technology from goody huts? Because I had a string of 3 tech huts in a row the other day, on Prince, and got another tech in each of a few different games. Maybe it's just luck though.
