  • Why should I get Civ4?

    Hey, people...

I've read some stuff about Civ4, looked at some screen shots, but I'm still not convinced I'll get it.

I'm considering it...but I'd like to hear from Apolyton members. So, convince me...

    Why should I get Civ4?

    Cheers...

But not as good as Civ I

The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Don't get it unless you don't mind being in the situation where you look at the clock and it's 10pm and - what seems like minutes later - you look again and it's 1:00am...

          It's a great game.

Buy it unless your computer sucks.

            - Things you don't like can always be modded.
            - Unit promotions make you care about what
            happens to each individual unit
            - Culture and Religion are important and add
            greatly to strategy
            - Wars take great planning and effort
            - Catherine is a tease
            - too many to list

'Course, maybe I'm not the guy to be giving
advice. I bought more RAM and a new vid card
            just to play this game.

If I had to buy a new computer to play it, I would have.
If the user agreement required me to drop my
pants, grab my ankles and submit to a compulsive
full body cavity search by a huge nurse named Olga,
            I would have signed it.

You should get it to play the game, silly.
What else should you get a game for?
You get it to be entertained. To enjoy yourself. If we have to explain that.............

Anyway, why don't you download the demo, and see if you like it yourself.

As a complete noob to the world of the Civilization franchise, this is the reason I got it (click link below).

All I can say is that I'm very glad that I decided to take the plunge and buy the game. I really enjoy it and I've still got loads to learn about it. It's a very entertaining game in my opinion.

I was *very* sceptical looking at the screenshots and I wasn't originally very impressed by the advertised new features.

Which is why my delight after buying it for £20 was SOO much greater than if I had been expecting to buy it for months

                      1. Because I felt ripped off after getting (multiple versions--or "expansion packs"--of) Civ3, and it was a grand waste of my time and money...purchasing pieces of an incomplete game.

                      2. There's many ways to be entertained--and some don't involve pulling up my blood-soaked pants afterward

Meh. I've never seen a demo that does a game justice. And getting several different reviews or mini-reviews from people saves time.

Anyway, I picked it up and I'll give it a chance.

                      Thanks again. Cheers...

The game is incredibly addicting for no apparent reason :-)

After playing one round for 9 hours across many days I felt like I wasted my life away, and then the next day I started a new one.

You can't fool us by changing your user name that trivially!

I take it that you've got to be the same person who used to be 'Nordicus'.

Welcome back Thomas. If you're still into modding, you'll like Civ4.
