  • Problems with patch 1.09

I make a separate thread for posting problems with the patch, so the good people from Firaxis can find all of them in one place.

My problem (?) is the game is installed in another directory. When I tried to installed the patch it gave me an error. Something like:

The source of Sid Meier's Civilization is not found.
Though after it was done the version number was shown to be 109.

So does that mean the patched worked, or just partially?

    Possible Permanent Alliance minor bug

(I'm not sure whether this was an issue before the patch, since I've never had a Permanent Alliance before).

    1. There is only the grey 'contact' line between myself and my alliance partner in the diplomacy window - the blue 'Defensive Pact' line is lost.
    2. My partner is 'friendly', of course, but when mousing over I have lost almost all friendliness-bonuses that I had before.

None of these are critical for gameplay, just minor disturbances.

Can you see inside his cities as if they were yours? I never had a perm alliance myself, but from what I read, your two civs become one (I assume this would works like when you're on the same team in custom games, i.e. you can see into your team mate's cities, see their units, etc).

I don't use the default folder and the patch found the game without problems. As it should be, I would be highly annoyed if a modern game couldn't be installed in a custum folder.

Yes, it works like a charm other than the two minor items noted. I can see inside her cities (though I cannot decide what she's to produce), and we can work on the same science, adding our beakers. When voting for UN leader we're considered one person, and we win as a team.

I'm having the same problem with it not being able to recognize that the program IS installed. I haven't done anythign special, I just allow it to install wherever it pleases. I bought the game with direct2drive, did you? Trying to figure out what separates us from the others....

Well, I also got the 'cannot find source' error (or whatever you want to call it). Continued with the installation, started a new game, checked the version, it says 1.09. In my game I hit a 'goody hut' it says I got a free tech...except I didn't get it. No tech pop-up, nothing. Then a few minutes later, due to my inattention my first settler became a snack for a panther, I go to reload my save from a turn or two ago, it hangs at the 'init video' stage. All in all, I'm not impressed.

You have to open a sticky thread " 1.09 BUGS " otherwise confusion will rule.

                Cheers

Allright, let me add this one:

In the worldbuilder, the new "random generate new map" button doesn't seem to be working.

Earlier I saw someone else experienced this so it probably is a bug that everyone got, not just individual problems.

                  Anyone else try it?

It's weird that they add a new feature and make a button for it but they don't make sure it works.... (or maybe it does... plz confirm?)

Same problem, I don't have direct2drive but I didn't install patch 1.08 and I don't know where to download it I wonder if that could be the problem?

Not sure if this is a bug, really, actually more like an annoyance. The patch reccomends xfire, which seems like a cool mathcmaking program... but civ4 doesn't show up in it's server list! Just seems kind of wacky. Same deal with gamespy arcade. Maybe i'm just doing something wrong, is anyone else having this issue?

I don't like the wording of the Xfire option.

                        Do you want to install?

                        -Yes
-No, I don't want to play with my friends (paraphrased)

It manages to simultaneously imply that the programme is mandatory for multiplayer, and that to not install it is to be antisocial.

I saw on the CivFanatics site that 1.09 will not work with direct2drive and that a patch for direct2drive will be coming out later.

                            I agree.

Very cheap trick in my view.
