  • Still getting some CTDs after Patch?

Game is running much smoother after the patch but I am still getting CTDs and had one Reboot. When I get the CTD now I do get the Window's send/don't send error box instead of just dropping to the desk top. I turned the graphics back down after the Reboot and it hasn't happened again, but I have had 2 CDTs since.

Still, patch seems to be an improvement for me so far. Anyone else still having these kinds of problems after the patch?

    3200 AMD 64XP
    1 gig RAM
    GeForce FX 5500 OC 256meg
    WinXP SP2

Honestly now I am kinda scared some of the 'quick fixes' I was trying before might be causing me problems..?

Forced the shaders to 1.3 and 1.1

Set a static Page File size

    3 different Nvidia Drivers sets

At least one more I can't remember now...

I really love this game and I wish it would run smooth for me going into the long weekend. I have already laid in a stock of coffee and Power Bars to tide me over as I was planning to spend most of that time butchering my neighbors.

Ah well... guess I'll just keep reloading all those saved games.

    Just had another Reboot.

Again, the game is not slowing down on me as it did before the patch..... so I got that going for me you know.

So now I see the Patch has been pulled.... darn. That was quick! Maybe they have a handle on it now and I can look forward to 4 days of pillaging. :::crosses fingers:::

Yeah, I see now on the 2k games site CivIV is now listed on there under the support section, as it wasn't before.

Was the patch available on it for a brief moment?

Think you could throw it my way if you have the executable?

I downloaded the patch via the in-game update option. It has since been pulled due to a bug or two. I think it was up for about an hour tops. From what I am reading I guess the patch broke the Worldbuilder. Also it seems that some graphics issues were fixed, but the seemingly random CDTs were not.

Also X-Fire was included in the patch. Nice little program if you have not used it before. It's for locating other people wanting to play CivIV over the net. Lots of games use it now, so if you like to game over the net it's worth the install.

I might have it in a temp folder (the patch) but there doesn't seem to be much reason to go looking for it since the Patch needs a Patch...

Maybe tomorrow all my Civ dreams will come true.

Well I guess that would be pretty stupid then. I really want to get this thing crackin over the holiday, I hope it comes out tomorrow.
