Continents or Balanced...Doesn't matter...

I've started several games where I customize the startup.

No matter what I select, except for Archipelago, I always get ONE big continent. If I select Continents, I get ONE big continent; if I select Balanced, I get ONE big continent. Archipelago does manage to give me some separate land masses.

Am I doing something wrong or is the random map creator not working correctly?

It's random - the "Continents"-setting makes a map with anywhere from 1-n number of large and small islands.
You can try to select "Custom Continents" so you can specify the number of landmasses.
