What are you playing?

Whenever I am playing this (all my free time) people ask what I'm playing, then they ask what it's like.

I check the clock, and ask them how much time they have, cause it takes a while to explain it...

Anyone else have this issue, or can you sum it up quickly...

I always feel weird about telling people what games I'm playing. They all seem like "nerdy" games.

Most people I know play regular console games. It's tough to explain to them what a real RPG or TBS is.

“Oh. Like Sim City then?”
“No. Not like Sim City then.”

I've had that exchange a few times...

From there, I just say, "Well, instead of building a single city from nothing, you build an entire Civilization..." then I check the clock... ask them if they have some time...

I think that's what makes this game so great... Trying to describe it really requires a deep breath, some thought, and a good sit down discussion.

just tell them it's like axis and allies or risk, but you also build city improvements and focus on building your economy.
