Yes... Fascism is associated with big statues to its leaders...
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I think they could've found better examples (but not as-well-known ones), but it's appropriate.

Fascism is the system in which individuals live to serve a state.

The state builds things and shows them off. People draw pride from them. In that sense, every country has an element of fascism to it (aka nationalism). The opposite of fascism isn't democracy, but rather the absence of countries... at least by its original meaning.

None of the -isms really have much to do with their original meanings anymore, and that's bound to cause confusion.

          ETYMOLOGY:
          Italian fascismo, from fascio, group,
          from Late Latin fascium,
          from Latin fascis, bundle.

A political movement or system characterized mainly by a belief in the supremacy of the chosen national group over all others, and in which there is, typically, state control of all aspects of society, a supreme dictator, suppression of democratic bodies such as trade unions and emphasis on nationalism and militarism.

          And....

"A form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation or victimhood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion." [Robert O. Paxton, "The Anatomy of Fascism," 2004]

I felt bad about it in Civ3, but fascism was a govt type i switched to as soon as it became available, and then every time I was going to go to war. It was a convenient little thing, not having anyone question you.

Use democracy's production boost to build up armies, then switch to fascism and let er rip.

good times....should have a fascism civic...i guess its represented by nationalism now, but seems less powerful somehow.

Fascism = Nationalism + Police State

I think it makes sense, really. Probably would have been better to have some sort of statue, as a Mount Rushmore for EVERY civilization doesn't make much sense, IMO.

I think its just there with fascism because it was built at the same time as fascism started to develop. Not because they are saying it is fascist.

Fascists, also known as fetischists, like to build huge statues resembling their leader who is sometimes called a Furious, and sometimes known as a Douchee. They are frequently to be found in history getting their corn creamed by democracies. See also Commie'nism.

It cracked me up when I saw that. I never thought of it that way exactly, but it clearly is fascist.
