  • Game length in RL time

So I just played through to my first space race victory on standard/continents/noble; two quick wars and one inconclusive skirmish, but certainly not a lot of maneuvering. For most of the game I had 10 cities.

And playing through took 9 and a half hours?

With more skill I could have done things faster (didn't launch the ship until 1967), but I don't see that cutting things down below, say, 8 hours. If this is the intended length of the game I suppose I'm going to have to start playing on Quick.

How long is it taking other people to play through a late-victory game (space race, culture, UN, nuclear war)?

LOL. Many (myself included) are complaining that civ4 is much shorter/faster than the previous versions were, where to finish a game was taking days, not hours, and you want to play it on quick because a civ4 game is too long for you? LOL
You must be new in the civ business. Welcome and have fun!

It took me like 3ish hours to play through a normal length game. That's entirely too fast for a game of Civ. It should take at least 6 hours.

Stupid poll... I've never played a game on normal... Epic could use a little slow down already. My games usually takes 5-6 hours (standard map, 7-8 AI, Epic)
This space is empty... or is it?

I've played an epic game on a large continents map in only 5 hours.

actually not that cool, I'd rather it took a little longer. Most of my games are around 5 hours. But my 2 games where I got a conquest and domination victory took around 8 hours. If you wage a lot of warfare, it will definately take longer. But in most games I'm a builder and almost never go to war.

I have just finished my first game (normal speed, large map, space victory) in 10 hours. I guess it'd take much less time once I know the characteristics of all units and buidlings by heart.

My large terran epic game took nearly 20 hours over a week to beat. And I have a fast computer, it wasn't running slowly to my surprise. It just took that long to get through the game.
