  • Why does changing civics piss off other civs?

As soon as i changed to Emancipation, Pacifism, Representation, and Free Speech at once, two civs immediately cancelled their deals with me.

I checked theirs, and one had Representation, Slavery, Nationhood, Free Market, and Organized Religion.

The other had Representation, Bureacracy, Emancipation, Free Market, and Organized Religion.

The were both Judaism, and i was Buddhism.

So, i can't figure out what pissed them off.

Each great leader has a favourite civic; if your nation has it, he'll be enjoyed.
So, if you had the "good" civic and switch, you lose the diplomatic bonus!

The favourite civic for each leader is available in the Civilopedia leader section.

That's good info. Did not know that.

      Thanks.

Just discovered it in fact ^^

I'm reading the biographies of the leaders, it's on the same page. Civ 4 improves my culture!

I thought it just meant that your leader prefers that civic, cause it's more conducive to their traits, etc. I didn't know it had anything to do with diplomacy.

They even ask you to change to their fav civic but I've only seen it a few times.
