at last somebody who is playing above normal. Not that I want to boast, but is it not a bit easy if one play on normal? The AI has no advantage over the player, and a big problem: its only an IA, not a human brain...
Just wondering, again it has nothing to do with boasting (I play above normal, in emperor), perhaps the game is more fun with lower settings?
Map type: Pangea or 2-3 continents
Map size: Standard
Diffeculty: Noble
Civs: 8+
Map settings: random
Without domination and diplomacy victories (The AI can't win those anyway)

Everyone has a different skill level I guess. I'm still on Noble and I can't win (yeah I know I suck). The AI always seems to have boatloads more units than I can produce.
I usually disable all victories except conquest, standard size map (want larger but computer can't handle it), 6 opponents, no barbarians, different maps. I've been looking for a map with a really harsh environment, but can't seem to find one. Tried ice age/highlands/desert. Anyone know of a really hostile map (lots of mountains/desert/ice, very few resources)?
Many more games to play at many more settings, but the best so far:
Huge Lake Map
18 Civs
Noble Difficulty
Epic Speed
Tech Trading Off
All Victory Conditions except Space Ship On.
Permanent Alliances On
Played As: Isabella
Several decent wars were fought, was able to support a fairly large empire (20 or more cities, IIRC), religion was a very important factor as was diplomacy.
"Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription is ... more cow bell!"

"In the beginning was the Word. Then came the ******* word processor." -Dan Simmons, Hyperion

Also I forgot to mention I have tech trading off, this slows down the game a bit
