So I suppose now is the time to mod this game, and the first thing to do is to create more nationalities and leaders. To start with the Dutch of course. First to beat monarchy and replace it with a republic; and are windmills already introduced as an early industrial improvement? Anyway, I would like a larger array of national leaders to pick one from - and to meet as my opponents!

Of course??!! why: of course?
Willem, Willem, willem...Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

zuh?I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Thanks Lumpkin, you're right of course, forgot that. BTW, I later realized, those early republics, at least the Dutch one, were the result of the Protestant movement, resisting against not just the Pope in Rome, but the Catholic kings in general, like the Spanish in case of the Dutch. In view of the newly implemented religious factors in Civ IV - I wonder if this bit of history pops up somewhere?

well i guess we´ll have to wait for the SDK to come. right now modding options aren´t satisfying at all.
in fact i do think, european nations are kind of over-represented. i´d rather add some more african and mesopotamian nations.War and courage have done more great things than charity. Not your sympathy, but your bravery hath hitherto saved the victims.

However in the case of the Dutch they were a world empire which commanded huge areas of land across the globe and had a significant impact on world history. The same goes for Portugal; although the case for Portugal isn't so compelling IMHO because it is so closely linked to Spain. I just think any nation which created a vast long-lasting world empire should be included as a civ, even though it does mean the Europeans are over-represented.http://www.cojadate.com/
