I envy you. I still can't play a saved game without the computer freezing solid every couple of turns.

Try lowering the pixel shader version to 1.1. Really helped me.

I find I can play without problems till after I get tanks as long as every time I load up a save game it's after a fresh bootup of my PC.

I seem to recall having a dis-similar problem in Civ1... The game would be veery slow if I had Soundblaster enabled, until I destroyed something with a catapult, or some other unit that goes "baroom", instead of the clashing of swords sound... Brings back memories.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

The NVIDIA 71.xx drivers are the ones that seem to work with Civ 4. I'm not sure what NVIDIA changed, but it's a problem that will be fixed when the patch is finally released.

I had my first crash to desktop yesterday, but that was after playing for about 6 hours straight.

                    Have you tried 81.94 yet?

I have heard that they solve all the old things the new way.

(Since I never had any problems with it in the first place I couldn't tell you)

Hey, is this why my SP game after 1950AD is routinely eventually grinds to a halt and boots me out to Windows, necessitating a reboot?

How do I change my XP swap file settings then?

I had more luck with the 81.85. I tried out the .94 driver and Civ IV would consistently crash within half an hour of playing any game (even if I loaded a new one). This was a crash from which I had to reboot the system.

I use a Geforce 5200 FX for what it's worth.

I tried 81.85 it didn´t do anything. But the 81.94 solved my graphics problems and sped up the game considerably

                              • Any word on the latest and greatest for this patch? I am holding off having a "complete" game (it takes time so much time) until they release it..

I have been playing "kill" games but nothing like a full blown effort due to some problems I have had..

                                Anyone with an ETA yet?
