what he's saying works great on low levels. I've done it on Warlord with ease. With just 6 bombers and 10 tanks I was able to annhilate an entire civilization (on an archipelago map). Of course I had to wait after each city to heal my tanks up. But I didn't need to heal that much. When bombers take HP's down to 50%, you tanks barely take any damage.

On the higher levels you are facing bunkers and defending fighters. In that case I'd probably go with artillery.

On Warlord if you shout nastily the AI gives you cities.

Well I've only played up to Prince level so far but it works flawlessly still at that point. 6 bombers is nowhere near enough for a fast conquest though. That's enough to take city defenses out for 1 city but you won't have any left for collateral damage. Occasionally I'll run into enemy fighters but never enough of them to cause me serious problems.

I build 2 types of city attack tanks. My "first attack" tanks start with 2 city attack and 1 collateral damage. As they get xp they add a 3rd city attack and then work on maxing collateral damage and then strength. The rest of my city attack tanks start with 3 city attack and then work on first strikes and strength. I bomb city defenses to 0% and all defenders with a strength of more than 10 or so to 50% before attacking. Heavily defended cities usually cause some damage to my first attack tanks and zero damage to the rest. Tanks that I build for attacking units outside of cities get strength and first strikes.

I wipe out neighbors that are technologically weaker than I am first to give my tanks xp so by the time I get to the tech leaders I have tanks with at least 5-6 promotions each as my main strike force. Usually the only tanks I ever lose are some of my less experienced first attack tanks. I never lose my most experienced core.

On the higher levels you are facing bunkers and defending fighters. In that case I'd probably go with artillery.
I haven't seen the need yet but I've got that covered with my first attack tanks if the situation came up where AI cities had such strong air defenses that my stealth bombers couldn't get through. I'd sacrifice my less experienced tanks for that.

I never ask for cities. Maybe I should. It always seems like such an exploit.

I didn't actually mean that - it was hyperbole.
