  • Intro Screen Music

Hi, this'll probably stir up a hornets nest, but I think the start menu music is AWFUL - so is there any way I can disable, or better yet, replace it? I've been through the Civ 4 folder and can't see any music-type files.

    Thanks!

Find that MP3 in the Assets directory and delete it? Also, there's an XML file that lists the music that gets played, maybe find that filename in there and delete it? Sorry, can't be more specific than that, I don't have the game with me now. Oh, and please backup before deleting anything, I don't want my advice to screw your copy of Civ4 if it doesn't work.

          in a hornets nest though...

It's better than anything I heard on the radio for the last couple of years, that's for sure.

The specific file you're searching for is located in your civ4/assets/sounds/soundtrack/ folder and the name is OpeningMenu.mp3 (quite sure about it...)

I'm not to keen on it either, so I replaced it with 'Generals and Majors' by XTC.
Just renamed it OpeningMenu.mp3 and placed it in the Assets/Sounds/Soundtrack game folder.
That'll do for now, until something else takes my fancy! Thought it was quite appropriate really!

Baba Yetu is the Lord's Prayer in Swahili and the original composer and the remix of the song can be found here to download:

I replaced it with the theme from the Lion King.

Actually thats the one song on the soundtrack that I actually really like.

To each his own I guess.

It's well-produced, with a strong melody, and I can see why people like it - but it gets on my nerves.

It's possible to recognise something as a quality product within its genre, but not actually like that style of music.

Is it really the Lord's Prayer in Swahili? That might explain why this atheist isn't quite uplifted by it

Still, at least it hasn't got a firkin' cowbell on it.

                          <<<<<<<<

Why yes, it is, a version put to a song.

Now, sway from side to side in motion with the song!

Now just click the bold words "Baba Yetu" to download it, at the Christopher Tin's website listed up above!

Bongos are a bit louder, but same song!
It is re-mixed, so it sound a bit different but only in the mix.

I think it flows a bit better in the game with the Earth rotating down below against the background of stars and the Sun coming in and out of the scene!

Now I guess Jeff and Sid just want you to pray a little!

Well, theres a time and a place, but being rock oriented, Civ's intro gets on my nerves. Although I do like moody warlike classical though!
