windows installed the game but when it was fully installed i got an error message saying the game wasn't compatible with windows! and there's a file missing so when i click on the shortcut on my desktop it won't even start.The file that's missing is msvcr71.DLL or something, can anyone confirm this is normally in your civilization folder? And maybe send me a copy, please i badly want to play this game.

I don't know but did you install the new version of Direct X 9.0c included with the game -- it is needed, but I do not know if that is the file that is needed.
You do need Windows 2K or XP Service Pack 1 or higher though to play the game.

THat file seems maybe to be VisualStudio.Net Framework file, so perhaps you should update your computer and get the Microsoft Framework download on your computer from Microsoft -- updates!
Although I tend to have 5 copies of that file on my computer -- it may not help only having just that one file but the entire Framework 1.1 version update from Microsoft which is a kind of platform coding thing that was included with VisualStudio.NET, but the FrameWork is also a Microsoft download for computers that do not have that program -- as other programs coded using the FrameWork will need that to --- work -- with the OS.
Look for FrameWork 1.0 version probably the newer upgrade of FrameWork 1.1.
It is suppose to make cross-platform programs have a common base for coding so all different kinds of programming coded programs work through the same -- base --- the Framework!
Probably will be listed or can be found at Microsoft Update -- or with a search for computer that do not have it in their OS version! -
it works now, i had to re-install a couple of times even after i got windows xp pack 2 but now everything works perfectlyComment
