...all my spare time away.
I had the One more Turn Syndrome real bad last night. I kept watching it get later and later; it's kind of like being at a party where you realize that if you have one more drink, you know you're going to pay for it in the morning but you do it anyway.
I was playing a custom game with conquest/domination/time/diplomacy as victory conditions. I was leading by a comfortable margin, but as the game approached the home stretch, permanent alliances started forming.
The China/Russia/Arabia pact pulled into the lead due to their combined points. Crisis!!
I frantically started wooing other civs. I managed to get Cyrus to sign with me, and then got FDR to agree to a defensive pact. Turns went by, and FDR kept putting me off coquettishly on signing a permanent alliance.
Then the *&$% betrayed me and went with my arch nemesis, the Incas! How DARE he!!
With less than 100 turns remaining, it was apparent that diplomacy was becoming useless, so I decided the only way to make up the points difference was by conquest.
I went after those primitive Inca rascals with a vengence, with the intent on making FDR the next victim (if time permitted).
Even though my war was proceeding rather well, it didn't seem to give me many points. Mouse hovering over my score revealed that most of my score points came from technology- the very thing I had neglected since reaching "future tech". I had turned down my science rate to almost nil to finance rush-producing tanks...now, with about 50 turns left, it was apparent I had shot myself in the foot.
As the time went by, I kept looking at the clock. The devil on one shoulder said, "Quit worrying about work tomorrow, you wuss," while the devil on the other shoulder said, "He's right! Now let's annihilate those stinking Incan *&%!!"
I quit before finishing last night though, and things don't look good for victory.
They look worse for the Incas/Americans however. I just wish I could pass a UN resolution banning them rather than the nukes...
I'm tired today. I love this game but it's killin' me
Fooled you with my thread title, didn't I...
