  • Can anyone identify the Oracle Music?

I consider myself largely an exclusively classical music listener - so Civ4 has been a treat for me. In my perfect world, all video game music would be Vivaldi and Beethoven. (Why would you want to listen to anything else repetitively) I was extremely happy to hear the inclusion of selections of John Adams opera "Nixon in China" for the modern age. "The People are the Heroes now" was originally a peasant's chorus in that opera, but it takes on a new beautiful significance as a "theme of the modern era". And did I mention the new modern music is *exponentially better* than the Kenny G slow rock that plays in the modern era of civ 3.

One thing bugs me however - I cannot identify the piece that is played during the Oracle wonder movie... except that I know the same piece is played during the Secret Project movie for "The Xenoempathy Dome" in Alpha Centauri.

Can anyone at all identify this beautiful piano theme?

Can you find the .wav or .mp3 associated with the oracle.

I dont think you talk about this sounds, since it last only 4-5 seconds.

It would be the music in the wonder-movie....

I wish I knew the answer.

Don't know what the music is but the movie with the music is located in:

        Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Art\Movies\Wonders

All the Civ IV movies can be played with a Bink movie player.

The Oracle music was also played as a music background to a couple of Gaian Project movies in SMAC, if it helps.

It sounds very much like a Schubert Piano Sonata.

Sounds sort of German-ish early-mid 1800s - a bit Romantic (?), so it might be Schumann also. I don't think it's Beethoven, might be Brahms too.

Sorry, can't be more specific...but hopefully that will narrow it down for you.

This is so true. I used to shut the music off when I reached the Modern Era in Civ 3 - that music was 100% crap. Now I find myself turning up the speakers in the Modern Era.
