  • do I need a .NET thing to use the driver from http://www.omegadrivers.net/?

    I think I read somewhere that I need some .NET program in order for the catalyst to work right.

    I have an ATI mobility radeon 9800, and I'm trying to get this fixed, but I want to make sure if I do or don't need something special for it to work.

    Yes, the later ATI drivers use .NET. Now, how daft is that???? ;-)

      Not necessarily!

      There are two versions of ATI's drivers; one with "catalyst control panel" (which needs .NET) and one without.

      The one without is better in every way I am aware of, and the catalyst control panel is horrible.

      I don't know for sure, but I think I've used a non-ccp version of Omega drivers. I know the DNA drivers don't require .net.

        From the omegadriver's readme
        . The Omega Drivers use a special ATI Tray Tools version with the following features:

        > Use very little resources.
        > Doesn't require .NET to work.
        Broogan Dreadbow
        WindowsXP Pro SP2, AMD AthlonXP 2800+, ASUS A7V600, ATI Radeon 9800Pro/128, TB Santa Cruz, 3x512MB PC2700 DDR, Seagate 200GB, Maxtor 40GB
