Crash every time at 1882 AD

I looked through the posts and haven't found this exact problem. Everytime I play, everything is fine with the game until I hit the Modern Era. After the screen comes up announcing the era, the game crashes on the next turn. I even tried playing with a smaller map. The auto saves crash as well at the same point. As it stands now, I can't finish a game.

I have downloaded the ATI drivers to no avail. Anyone else crashing at the same point every game and know of a fix?
