When you talk with Washington he seems like he is talking to someone other than you ( he moves his hands and looks in another direction )

Who he might be looking?

That's a gesture common in New York that says, "Can you believe this guy?"

It might be his Secretary of State, who would be in on his diplomatic exchanges. That limits it to Thomas Jefferson, Edmund Randolph, or Timothy Pickering.

My bet's on Pickering as the other two (and the president) were Southerners, and so he'd be the one to introduce the gesture to them.

Its just Martha behind the scenes controlling the situation. You know how domineering those First Wives can be.

Just be thankful Martha hasn't had contact with Hillary.
