  • Is there music at start start of game/4000BC?

When I start a new game, I don't notice any music. All I hear are birds and water flowing. Is this normal? There's definitely music in the later ages. Thanks!

edit: Well this seems silly... So when I scrolled in a little closer to the world, the music started up. There's no music when I am really close up, or farther out. It fades in and out as I scroll. Is this normal? I find it kind of weird that I can only enjoy music at a specific viewing distance...

This is normal. If you zoom in to your cities, you can hear the "early" version of your leader theme, but when you zoom out there is no real music to be heard. Sometimes, you hear some primitive drums beating, but basically not much.

Later, music will start as the civilization develops. Nothing to worry about.

The upclose sounds are different than the background sound. But if you wanted to hear the music then find the AncientEra. mp3 or so whatever they are called.

Basically, it is just wood blocks and drum beats and that is the music.

Up close you will hear the water sounds, and forest sounds and all of that!

The Ancient Era music actually starts in the classical age, which is when you discover your first classical age technology.
