  • Are the wonder cut-scenes back?

This was a real bug-bear for me. I loved the Civ2 wonder cut-scenes, and thought the way Civ3 handled them was unspeakably lame (I ended up ranting about it in a column, in fact). Are they back, and are they any good? Or are they embarrasingly tragic (again)?

Ye gods, who are all you people? It's like discovering a lost tribe.

      1. wonder movies aren't important at all, if someone rants about it in a column, that dude defenitely has no life
      2. there are already 94985 threads about this issue
      3. I'm not going to answer you, just search for it, you lazy lazarus

(and I urge everybody else to not answer the question as well , I mean, those newbees keep on starting threads on the same subject! )

They're better than in civIII, but worse than in civII. In cIV, I consider them simply lame.

EDIT: I'll elaborate a bit: There's animation and background music. Animation starts from a designing board, you can see how the 3D model of the wonder is quickly built while the angle changes. Then, when it's complete, the background changes to either RL-context or some other city background. Funnily enough, the "Colossus" wonder movie is one of the best ones there is in the game.

That's interesting, because it was jaw-droppingly awful in Civ 3. It was a foot. How do you capture the crowning glory of ancient sculpture by focussing on an ankle?

Actually, I like them better in Civ4 then in Civ2.
It's interesting to see all wonders how they get builded up.

Although "building" animation is unhistorical for some of them, but I think it's a minor issue.

Back in the days of Civ2 the game included movies, which was pretty cool because you weren't used to see movies at a PC.

In CIV4 ther rendered the movies. That's more modern

Well I think I still like the CIV2 movies better. I like the realism added to a computer game by real life movies of Pyramids, of angry women marching along somewhere ( that was Univeral Suffrage IIRC)
