  • Soren Johnson Audio Interview (Part 1)

Apolyton Civilization Site ( http://apolyton.net ) [ACS], one of the oldest and premiere online fansites for the Civilization computer strategy gaming series and its extended family, is today releasing the first part of an audio interview with Firaxis Games Designer/Programmer Soren Johnson on Civilization IV. It`s the first in a three-part verbal chat with Johnson, CivIV`s Lead Designer, as part of ACS` "Game Developer Series" (GDS) served through its Radio (ACSR) service.

Johnson is interviewed by ACS Co-Owner/Administrator Daniel "DanQ" Quick, who is also ACSR`s Station Manager. Topics include but are not limited to general CivIV game points (e.g. game speed, space victory) and the CivIV designer's gaming history from his post-secondary studies to today. The full 26m:32s of this part of the Quick-Johnson discussion is available for streaming on demand in MP3 format, as is the two-minute promo for Part 2. For best results, ACS recommends the http://www.winamp.com" TARGET="_new">Winamp application from Nullsoft.

One week ago, a two-minute preview of Part 1 was published on and by ACS [see story]. Part 2 is scheduled for publishing on November 18th.

Um, all I'm getting is the promo.

A couple people now have reported hearing the Part 2 promo first before all of Part 1. I was getting the reverse (and correct) order when I tested the listen link before and after its publishing.

Given this reported problem, however, I have modified the listen link file so that it only plays all of Part 1. The promo for Part 2 will need to be streamed separately at least for now.

Let me know if the problem persists (you may need to clear your browser's cache(s)) and, of course, any comments about Part 1's content.. and even Part 2's promo for that matter.

P.S. To those who were having the problem, please send me a private message (PM) of what application you are or at least were using to listen in before and what its version was/is.
